I worked some of the hives at the Elm Creek bee yard this afternoon. This hive had nine frames of brood similar to this frame. The other hives are averaging a respectable five frames of brood apiece. This hive could grow into a great honey producer by this spring, if it doesn’t swarm first. This is one of the hives that I purchased from J.N. Russell. I am so pleased with his bees that today I purchased 30 queens from him that I will use later this summer when I divide these hives to increase my number of colonies. Thank you Mr. Russell!
See the bee on my left thumb? Besides being prolific, these bees are also very gentle. No stings today.
