When I arrived at the Farm Yard I could see that a critter had taken up residence beneath a brick that I place on top of the hives to hold them in place. My first thought was that it was a small snake until I looked closer:
This was a first for me — I’ve never seen a frog anywhere near a beehive, much less on top of one. I’m not sure if I was more perplexed by why he wanted to be there or by how he got up there in the first place, since the hive is about four feet tall. Maybe he’s from Calaveras County. I just hope he has an appetite for spiders and not for bees. I understand that frogs are disappearing as quickly as the bees, so I let him be. Can anyone identify this frog? — I don’t remember ever seeing one with a white stripe.
