Well, we’re exhausted but pretty happy with how today went! We got to the town square, got set up and were ready to go by about 8:40a. It really helped to have a third person at the booth (thanks Belinda!). We want to thank everyone who stopped by to taste and/or buy the honey and vist the bees. That observation hive was a HUGE success and we are so happy we invested in one. What was so fantastic was the fact that all ages of people enjoyed seeing the bees – the adults recalled family members keeping bees and they were happy that kids could see the bees in action. The kids were all fascinated by the frame they were observing, especially when we taught them how to spot the Zia queen we had in there. The queen performed wonderfully – actively laying eggs so we could show everyone (lots of “that is so cool!” on this) and at times she’d stay put and allow her nurse bees to tend to her needs. It was wonderful to have a chance to share these experiences with folks. I think I have to say that we may have enjoyed it even more than our visitors. 🙂
Now it’s time to inventory how we did, discuss any changes we want to make to our setup and our activities during transactions and prepare for next weekend. It’s going to be THREE days straight in Gonzales for the Come & Take It Festival! Should be a lot of fun!
