First off, we want to say hello to all our new friends we met this weekend! Not only did we meet some great people from Gonzales, but we also met many visitors from out of the area. Hopefully they will help us spread the word about our honey. We had such a great time and we sold out of everything we took to Gonzales. The second day, we even took a couple of extra cases! Thank you so much, everyone! You all really made our first festival there a huge success and we are so happy you loved the honey.
One of the things we noticed was that the mesquite honey went FAST. People who sampled both honeys were blown away by the smoothness of the mesquite. That’s not to say we didn’t have huge fans of the wildflower. The interesting thing is that even people who said they do not like honey at least tried both and decided they did actually like honey after all. That is always nice when you can change someone’s mind about a great product. Those bees did a fantastic job on the honey! Speaking of bees, the observation hive was a huge crowd pleaser once again. People of all ages flocked to see what they were doing before they even realized a queen bee was in there. They LOVED seeing the queen and we loved the opportunity to teach them what was happening in the hive. The queen did a great job as she did her queenly duties – roam around looking for a good cell for her new baby, let her attendants tend to her needs, remain visible almost the entire time she was on display – we couldn’t have asked for more. We can’t tell you how cool it is when people stand in awe and are captivated by the bees. Awesome!
Finally, we wanted to share this shot of our second evening at the festival – right before there was a FRENZY of honey-buying. We think that people saw how few jars of honey were left and all of a sudden, we couldn’t move fast enough and poof – they were ALL GONE. Wow. It was such a great feeling and we felt so truly blessed that we actually sold out. If we weren’t so darn tired, we had planned on going back the third day with the observation \hive, even if we sold out…but fatigue got the better of us so today we unloaded the vehicles, took the hive back to their yard and planned for our next event. I’ll save that information for the next post. Again, THANK YOU GONZALES! We really appreciate your support and we are looking forward to next year already!
