Before I left for a business trip, I got to tag along as Mark and Kenneth moved the first half of the bee yard at My Father’s Farm to a new location that the owner is now at on Highway 123 in town, near IH10. Though the FM725 location has been good for us, it’s time for a change and we like the new yard – it’s huge! Should plenty of room for our little bees to roam. We hope they will like it there in their new home.
Notice how dark it is when they are finally set up! We lose light so fast now in the fall that it’s a race to get them from the old yard to a new yard before losing all our light. This means you have to wait late enough to give the bees a chance to get back to the hive so they can come along or else they’ll be lost if we move the hive before they come home. Small window of opportunity. Sort of exciting! 🙂 I always enjoy my beeventures with my beekeeper and I can’t wait to get home and see all the candles he’s been cranking out with his sister, who’s visiting this week to help out while I’m gone. Yay! We need a LOT of candles for our upcoming event.
Okay, I’m off to bed. The sooner I get to sleep, the sooner I get to return to the ranch and see my favorite beekeeper!
