The picture above is a shot of the exhibits at the beekeeping conference we attended this weekend in Galveston. We found some terrific deals, learned a great deal talking and listening and met some really wonderful people in the process. We also agreed that beekeepers conference a lot like librarians do, which is funny to us as we were both librarians in a previous life and attended plenty of conferences in that capacity. I’d go into details but it doesn’t have much to do with beekeeping so I better move on…the picture below is the gorgeous display that shows off some gorgeous winning honeys. Beautiful the way they backlit it all!
Any time we are on one of our beeventures, I like to keep friends posted on interesting tidbits, unusual sightings and other general or miscellaneous news. Sometimes I’ll even snap a quick picture with my BlackBerry and send it, which means a grainy, not-so-great shot. But one of our friends, who shall remain unnamed but they’ll know I mean them since they read this blog, put together a picture so hilarious, we simply had to share it. Sorry if you don’t find it as funny as we did but you have to admit, that’s a crazy looking shot! At the conference, I saw the biggest AND the smallest smokers ever. And Mark found me a petite size suit that will completely seal me up and then I can walk around snapping pictures to my heart’s content. If you haven’t ever seen a typical bee suit, then let me tell you that I am 5 foot and 1 inch. And apparently the typical beekeeper is a tad taller than I. So when I have worn Mark’s suits, I have a foot or so extra fabric. 🙂 Soo, awesome suit to go with the gloves I got at the Texas Beekeepers Conference in Kerrville! It’s important when you’re allergic to the stings. The picture below are components from four different pictures. Thanks, J. You made us laugh so hard!
