Today I helped David, a beekeeper friend, set up his first bee yard near Santa Clara Creek, outside Marion, TX. He bought these hives from a retired beekeeper from San Marcos but we had to drive to Frio County to inspect and load them up. The hives were strong and should make honey in a few weeks. Later this week we’ll check on them, give them proper stands and try and get them as strong as possible before the honey flow.
We saw lots of these yellow flowers in Frio County, but no bees on them. I think the plant is called black brush but I’m not sure. Anyone know? David’s flatbed truck is in the background. I like my pick-up, but the flatbed sure made moving bees easier.
