I was looking through pictures this evening and I ran across this shot and it made me smile. Back in 2005, Mark and I loaded Granpa into the Tundra and headed to Walker Bees in Rogers, Texas to pick up a couple pounds worth of bees. My beekeepers were just planning on some hobby hives to be kept with Granpa in Burnet. After a warm breakfast (I can’t recall what it was but I’m sure Granma would have made us a great breakfast), we made the long but enjoyable drive together and enjoyed great scenery and conversation. At that point, I had never been stung by a bee and so I sat fearless (sort of) in the backseat with our bees. Most of them were contained but a few were outside the boxes. You won’t catch me doing THAT these days! What a great walk down memory lane, though. We have had so much fun over the years.
Here’s a shot of bees that were waiting on other folks to pick them up and take them home. I’d never seen anything like it before this trip. I sure have learned a lot since I met my beekeeper. 🙂
