Today we went to Deadman Creek for a short bit in order to look at some of the hives. Things are looking good. After the recent rains, the Bee Brush has been blooming and there is a wonderful honey flow going on right now. That’s wonderful news for the bees at this time of year. With a little more rain, the bees will be able to build up nice and strong for the coming winter. We are very happy to see them buzzing about – great traffic in and out of the hives when we were there. And they were all over the Bee Brush for sure. I also noticed lots of yellow flowers blooming as well, of different varieties. Goldenrod is also in bloom and Mark says they LOVE Goldenrod. I guess it is sort of like Bee Thanksgiving time.
In other news, the requeening project is complete now – all Olivarez queens have a home or are wandering the great Texas landscape. Mark put a couple in and they left or were not accepted by their new hives. Not bad. This week he heads to East Texas with David to pick up some bees. More on that adventure later this week. 🙂
